Regional Conference 'Language Certification and Assessment of Language Competences' in Eupen

Together with the German-speaking Community in Belgium the Network for Multilingualism and Linguistic Diversity (RML2future) organized its first regional conference in Eupen, Belgium from 8th - 10th February 2010. The aim of the network is to promote multilingualism and linguistic diversity in Europe, actively involving the regional and minority languages.
The conference, which were dedicated to certification and assessment of language competences, was the first of a series of expert meetings. It has been supported by the minister of education of the German-speaking Community, Oliver Paasch.
The objective of the experts meetings was to contribute to the exploitation of the potential in regional education by bringing together practitioners, experts and decision makers and to cooperate on the European level.
The multilingual regions that are involved in the project, namely from Germany, Denmark, Austria, Belgium and Italy were invited to the congress, as well as other European minorities and regions that were interested.
